To demonstrate radiological features of Developmental Dysplasia Of Hip(DDH)/ Congenital Dislocation Of Hip, Von Rosen’s View is preferred.
1.The normal position of the head of the femur is in the lower and inner quadrant formed by Perkin’s and Hilgenreiner’s line. In Congenitally Dislocated Hip, the head is situated in the outer and upper quadrant.
2.The continuity of Shenton’s line is disrupted.
3.Ossification of the head of the femur is delayed or retarded
5.Superior and lateral displacement of femoral head.
Description Of Terminologies:
Hilgnereiner’s line: Drawn at the level of tri-radiate cartilage
Perkin’s line: Vertical Line drawn at the outer border of acetabulum.
Shenton’s Line: Formed between inferior border of the neck of femur with the superior margin of obturator foramen.
Acetabular Index: Normally 30 degrees.
CE angle of Wiberg: Normally 15-30 degrees.
